It is mandatory that all visitors watch the OPW safety on Skellig Michael video above before embarking on a landing tour. It is paramount that potential visitors are aware of what the landing tour entails and the rugged nature of Skellig Michael before booking.
The Skellig Landing tour is not a sheltered harbour cruise but a journey 12 kilometres (8 miles) out onto the open Atlantic Ocean. Sea conditions can often be challenging, particularly for those unaccustomed to travelling on the open sea. You need to carefully consider whether this tour is suitable or not for you.

Age Restrictions
It is an OPW governance requirement that all visitors landing on Skellig Michael are dressed appropriately for the trip. Visitors are required to have suitable outdoor clothing, footwear with ankle support/sturdy walking boots (not flat soles) and a waterproof raincoat.
You will be refused boarding if you do not have suitable clothing/footwear during an inspection before the commencement of the tour.

This tour may not be suitable for visitors that suffer from any of the following health conditions: Heart conditions, respiratory conditions such as asthma, musculoskeletal conditions, vertigo, or seizures.
